West Nile Virus (WNV), a mosquito-borne infection, can cause serious diseases.      

While people are at risk of contracting WNV in Pennington County, not every mosquito carries the West Nile Virus and most people who contract the disease do not become ill.  However, due to the seriousness of the diseases it may cause, it is important to take precautions to avoid mosquito bites.
