As a teen, there are probably a lot of things you’re told you can’t do. But there is one very important thing you can do: Learn to protect yourself, your family, and your friends if you find yourself in an emergency or a disaster.
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a national program from Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) that trains individuals in disaster preparedness and emergency response. The training is for anyone age 15+ who's interested in helping others in times of emergency or disaster. 

CERT training (open to teens and adults) teaches you about the potential disasters that could affect your area and how to safely and responsibly respond to them. It gives you the tools and knowledge to be an asset and not a liability in an active emergency event. Through the CERT program, you gain valuable skills that can help take care of yourself, your school, and your home.

You will learn how to:

• Identify and anticipate hazards
• Reduce fire hazards in the home and workplace
• Extinguish small fires
• Conduct light search and rescue
• Assist those who are injured
• Set up medical treatment areas
• Assist emergency responders
• Help reduce survivor stress

CERT CLASSES

CERT classes are offered twice a year as a combined class with adults and teens, in the spring and in the fall. They are open to anyone age 15 and up.
