Pennington County Fire Administration serves as a central resource and support system for all volunteer fire departments across Pennington County. While we do not provide direct fire suppression services, we play a vital role in ensuring our fire departments have the tools, funding, and coordination they need to protect our communities.

Pennington County Fire Administration provides the following:

Worker’s Compensation Insurance
Coverage for all volunteer firefighters in Pennington County, in accordance with South Dakota state law. -
Vehicle Liability Insurance
Insurance for fire vehicles owned or co-owned by Pennington County and/or local volunteer fire departments. -
Financial Assistance
Funding support for volunteer fire departments to purchase essential firefighting equipment, vehicles, training, and to support other fire-related operations. -
County Fire Hub
A centralized resource for fire-related administration, training, operations (structural and wildland), financial support, public and media relations, and hazardous materials coordination. -
Advisory Role
Provides recommendations and updates to the Pennington County Board of Commissioners on fire-related programs, needs, and initiatives. -
Interagency Liaison
Serves as a key contact between:-
