Position Overview

Laramie County Fire Authority is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Wildland Fire Program Coordinator to lead our wildland fire operations, training, and program development. This position plays a key role in advancing LCFA’s wildfire readiness, coordinating interagency operations, and supporting both local and national wildfire response missions. The program consists of three deployable resources (Type 3, Type 6, Tactical Tender) along with full-time and seasonal firefighters.

The ideal candidate is a team-oriented leader with a strong background in wildland fire operations, instruction, and program management—committed to safety, professionalism, and community service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate LCFA’s Wildland Fire Program, including operations, training, prevention, and interagency cooperation.
  • Serve as Administrator of the Wildland Program
  • Oversee readiness, deployment, and training of wildland personnel and equipment for in- and out-of-state assignments.
  • Develop and maintain wildland fire operating guidelines, training plans, and IQS records.
  • Serve as liaison to cooperating agencies, including state and federal wildland fire partners.
  • Manage program logistics, ensure equipment readiness, and coordinate deployment.
  • Support community wildfire mitigation and public education efforts.
  • Prepare reports, maintain budgets, and ensure compliance with wildland program standards and policies.

Minimum Qualifications

  • ENGB-qualified with a minimum of five (5) years of experience on out-of-state wildland fire assignments (IQS experience required).
  • ICT4/ICT5 qualified.
  • FAL2 qualified.
  • Emergency Medical Technician – Basic (EMTB) certified.
  • CDL Class B (must possess at time of hire).
  • Structural Fire Instructor certified (Instructor I preferred).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google..
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to support and maintain wildland apparatus and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing or developing wildland fire programs at the department or interagency level.
  • Experienced in financial management, budgeting, and record keeping.
  • Experience with grant administration and resource deployment coordination.
  • Structural Firefighter II .
  • M-410 Facilitative Instructor

Compensation and Benefits

Laramie County Fire Authority offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including:

  • Salary: Base pay $75,000-$ 85,000

■     Additional deployment pay ranges $50,000 to $75,000, depending on the wildland season.
