Community Service

The WSDJSC Community Service Program is an alternative to detention and is dedicated to helping troubled youth serve the community. The program provides for positive interactions between youth and non-profit organizations within the Rapid City community. The youth will be involved in various community service projects for set periods of time in lieu of being detained within the facility as a consequence of their actions. Participation in this program is at the direction of a court order.

Home Detention Program

The WSDJSC operates a Home Detention Program for Pennington County detainees. Assessments are conducted on all Pennington County detainees to determine eligibility per WSDJSC Policy and Procedure. If a detainee meets the criteria, the parent/legal guardian will be contacted by the Home Detention Officer.
