Investigations Division - School Resource Deputy Program

<< Investigations Division Home

The Sheriff’s Office participates in the School Liaison Program jointly with the Rapid City Police Department. Eight schools in the Rapid City School District and the Douglas School District have School Resource Officers. Pennington County Deputies are currently stationed at Stevens High School, Southwest Middle School, East Middle School, Douglas, Hill City and New Underwood Schools.

The School Resource Deputies provide assistance to school administrators and parents, instruction to students, investigation of criminal activity, and handle other police issues concerning schools and students. Our program started almost three decades ago and serves as an effective link between law enforcement, children, parents, and educators.

Sergeant Jeremy Milstead oversees the Sheriff's Office School Resource Deputies.
