Registration: 0700 – 0800

District Meeting: 0800 – 0815

Classes: 0830 – 1200

Lunch (Provided): 1200 – 1230

District Membership Meeting: 1230 – 1300

Classes: 1315 – 1630

 

Class 1A: Firefighter I & II Final Practical’s - Morning

Class Description:       This class will be for those that need to take and pass their final practical examination to receive the State of South Dakota Certification.  Candidates should bring their green cards and practical paperwork to sign off on.    

 

Class1B: Live Burn - Afternoon

Class Description:       This class will satisfy the requirements for the live burn portion of the state certification process.  This will consist of fire behavior, thermal layering, nozzle advancement, and water application in different fire environments.

 

Equipment Requirements: Structural PPE and SCBA, Spare Cylinder

Class 2: Auto Extrication – All Day

Class Description:  This class will begin with an overview of vehicle structure and supports.  Class will progress into cribbing and making entries using a multitude of different tools.  As the day progresses the class will begin to increase in complexity until time runs out. 

 

Equipment Requirements: Suitable Rescue or Structural PPE

Class 3: Coordinated Fireground

Class Description:       This 6-hour live fire class on coordinating truck and engine company function on the fireground.  The morning session will be made up of two separate classes.  Truck Company Function and Engine Company Functions.  During the afternoon session the two courses will combine to participate in coordinated live fire training. 

 

Truck Company Functions: This class will give the student the basic knowledge and ability to be able to perform several Truck Company Tasks on the fireground.  Skills included will be Forcible Entry, Search, Ventilation, and VES.

 

 Engine Company Functions: This class will cover engine company functions, particularly aggressively advancing handlines and flowing appropriate GPM to extinguish the fire.  The student will develop the knowledge and skills to operate in any position in an engine company.

 

Equipment Requirements: Structural PPE, SCBA, Spare Cylinder, Certified South Dakota Firefighter.
