Class I: Live Fire Training – Live Fire Attack & Technique
Training will consist of a short AM classroom session covering basic principles of Safety, SCBA and Fire Streams. The remainder of the AM and all afternoon will be spent doing hands on training with Live Fire. Participants will put their knowledge and skills to use in the two-story Mobile Live Fire Training Unit. Any students needing to fulfill the ‘Live Fire Training’ portion of their SD FF Certification Blue Card should bring it to class. Equipment Requirements: Students must have full Structural PPE (including hood) and SCBA in GOOD & SERVICEABLE conditionthat was NFPA compliant at manufacture date. If possible a spare SCBA cylinder should be brought as well.

Class II: Vehicle Extrication
This course provides basics hands-on training for fire and rescue personnel in size-up, stabilization, hazard control, patient access, disentanglement, and scene control techniques at automobile accidents. The course will begin with a PowerPoint presentation & classroom discussion. This will cover the different types of vehicles which rescuers may encounter and the techniques employed for a successful rescue. The afternoon portion of the class will focus on hands-on training utilizing various extrication tools and techniques. Emphasis is placed on proper choice, placement, and use of equipment available locally. NOTE: Protective Clothing Required -- Participants must furnish approved helmet, fire boots or leather safety toe boots, safety glasses, gloves, coveralls, or turnout gear for the hands-on portion of the class. Must be 18 years of age and have suitable Rescue or Structural PPE.

Class III: Bovine Emergency Response Training (BERP)
This class is a full day training preparing the firefighter for a vehicular cattle emergency. The firefighter will learn to recognize hazards and safety concerns for the responder and the cattle. Animal care and welfare will be stressed in this class.
