Purpose

The purpose of the Extension Board is to provide guidance and direction to the County Commissioners in the development, delivery, and evaluation of 4-H programs and services. The board will assist 4-H Advisors in developing and presenting the County budget to the Board of County Commissioners. The board will review the budget throughout the year to assist with prioritization of spending.

The Extension Board is advisory in nature and has no authority to make or amend Pennington County policy. The board is comprised of seven members: one County Commissioner and six at-large members. At least two members shall be farmers and one shall be a member of the Board of County Commissioners, who may also be a farmer representative. The membership shall be representative of the racial population mix in the County and of the various interest groups served by extension.

Meeting Times & Locations: The regular meetings are held at 5:30 p.m. at the Walter Taylor 4-H Building located at 601 E Centre Street, Rapid City, SD

Agendas: Agendas are typically on the website 48 hours before the meeting.

Minutes: Minutes for the meetings of the Pennington County Extension Board are the official record of the meetings and will be posted online and available for public viewing in accordance with state law.
